Verizon has released its first Android-powered Smartphone named HTC Droid Eris earlier this month. HTC Droid is a Google Android device and has been set for sale from November of this year for $100. This has no doubt created competition for Sprint
“HTC’s hero Smartphone is nearly identical to Droid Eris” said N.J based carrier the Basking Ridge. Sprint is currently selling HTC hero for $180. So people might opt for HTC Droid Eris for almost same specification for $80 less.
Droid Eris uses HTC’s Sense interface for its seven panel home screen with customizable widgets. The phone features 3.2 inch wide capacitive touch screen with GPS, Digit compass, Gravity Sensor, and a 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus capability.
The phone is capable of running Google services like Google Maps, Gmail, Google Search and many more. Users can access text messages, emails and call history and even Facebook updates from a single contact card.
The phone allows you to stay close to friends by viewing text exchanges, email conversations, Facebook status, Flickr photo albums and phone logs, neatly organized by people. It has a smart dialer for simplified dialing by name, number or initials.
Droid Eris joins Android devices like Motorola Droid which has also been put on sale from the first week of November. The HTC Droid Eris is available with a two –year contract.
